Edith (Cannon) Rommel, age 90 of Canton passed away Saturday afternoon at the Regency of Canton following a brief illness. She was born in Hartville, Ohio, on April 26, 1918, to the late George and Freda (Shank) Cannon. Edith was a resident of the Canton area since 1931. She was a graduate of McKinley High School, class of 1936. Edith was a secretary for the Jackson Bailey Electric Company for 24 years; she retired from the company in 1983. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 34 years, Donald L. Rommel on June 20, 1990, a son, George Allen Satow in July 7, 1945, and a sister, Frances Taylor in January 4, 2001. She is survived by a nephew, Michael Puente, and a great nephew, Stephen Puente, both of Plano, TX; step-son, William Rommel of Boynton Beach, FL; step daughter-in-law, Mary Anne Rommel of Hermitage, PA; two granddaughters, Lorie (Estuardo) Rosales of Sharon, PA, Lisa (Joseph) Rugare of Coconut Creek, FL; four great grandchildren, Lauren and Christian Rosales, Joey and Cal Rugare. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Reed Funeral Home Canton Chapel with Pastor Randy Newcomer officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Calling hours will be on Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
