Carole Ann Jeffers

Carole Ann (Altomare) Jeffers, age 71, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 6th, 2010 after bravely battling several extended illnesses. She was born on August 25th, 1938 in, Salem, Ohio to Carl and Julia (Bulat) Altomare. Carole graduated from Salem High School in 1956 then attended Mount Union College and the Aultman Hospital School of Nursing where she graduated in 1959 as a Registered Nurse. Throughout the years she was variously employed at Aultman Hospital, the former Doctors Hospital in Massillon and the former Massillon State Hospital from which she retired from in 1996. Carole was preceded in death by her father in 1986. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Mr. Carroll Jeffers of Canton and daughter Amy Jeffers, also of Canton. She is also survived by her mother Julia Altomare of Massillon, several Aunts and Uncles, nieces, nephews, numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and many cousins. She is further survived by many good friends and neighbors. Carole blessed everyone who was lucky enough to know her with a quirky sense of humor, an infectious laugh and an open and loving heart. Carole also enjoyed traveling extensively. She traveled through New England in Autumn, took several Caribbean cruises, has been to Reno, Nevada and Las Vegas so many times that everyone has lost count. She was an avid baseball fan and never missed an opportunity to cheer on her beloved Atlanta Braves. Carole was a member of North Industry Christian Church for over 40 years. She was very dearly loved and will be sorely missed by all. Carole's family wishes to express our profound gratitude to the entire staff of The Laurels of Massillon. All of you treated her and loved her like a member of your own family and we are eternally grateful. Another very special thank you to Aultman Hospice Volunteer's and staff for their support and love. According to her wishes, Carole was interred on Wednesday March 10th, in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens following a private family viewing and brief graveside service conducted by North Industry Christian Church Associate Pastor Ed Barnes. In lieu of flowers, Carole requested that contributions be made to The Philomatheon Society for the Blind or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or the charity of your choosing. The Reed Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. Those wishing to send condolences or share a fond memory, may sign the Reed On-Line Guestbook at www.reedfuneralhome.com.
