Bill McCartney, age 74, of Canton, passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2010. He was born on November 24, 1935, in Canton, to John and Inez McCartney. Bill was a 1953 graduate of Timken High School. He owned, operated and retired from Wallcoverings by Goat. Bill also was a bartender over the years at various locations. He enjoyed cruising around in his 1966 Mustang and attending car shows. Bill also enjoyed bowling and playing softball in his younger years. He was a very sociable person who enjoyed having fun. Bill was well liked by all and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marilyn McCartney; father, John McCartney; and sister, Hilda Patterson. Bill is survived by his mother, Inez McCartney of Canton; two brothers, Robert (Annette) McCartney and Russ McCartney, both of Canton; five children, William C. (Kathy) McCartney of Canton, Shawn (Michelle) McCartney of Canton, Tiffany (Chris) Manos of North Canton, Courtney (Nick Grossi) McCartney of Canton and Justin McCartney of Charlotte, NC; five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 15, 2010 at 11am in the Reed Funeral Home Canton Chapel with the Rev. Gary Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, March 14, 2010 from 6-8pm in the funeral home.
