Gertrude M. (Hale) Carlsen, age 99, of North Canton, (formerly of Bradenton, FL) passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2010. She was born on November 6, 1910, in Hartville, OH, to the late William and Elizabeth Stantz. Gertrude enjoyed her life in Florida, where she moved in the 1960s and lived there until recently. She was an active member of Bayshore Baptist Church in Bradenton, FL for many years and, most recently, attended Open Door Baptist Church in Canton, OH. Gertrude enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family. In her 99 years, she was a very giving person and lived a full life. Gertrude will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Clarence W. Hale, Sr.; second husband, Frank Carlsen; son, Clarence W. Hale, Jr.; and two grandchildren. Gertrude is survived by two daughters, Dolores Maddern of Bradenton, FL and Vivian Nice of Canton; 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. In honoring her wishes, Gertrude will be cremated. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 1, 2010 at 2pm in the Reed Funeral Home Canton Chapel with Pastor Robert Butterfield officiating.
